Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Hamid Mattiello is a distinguished interdisciplinary professor, researcher, futurologist, coach, and thought leader based in Switzerland, renowned for his expertise in international business management and cultural sustainability. With a strong foundation in industrial and computer engineering, he bridges the gap between technology, strategy, and culture to advance holistic approaches to global transformation.
He is the founder and theoretician of the X.0 Wave / Tomorrow’s Age Theory, a comprehensive framework for analyzing global business, technological innovation, and societal and cultural transformation. Prof. Mattiello has held professorial positions across Germany, Italy, and the UK, and currently serves as a professor in International Business Management and Cultural Sustainability in Germany. His work bridges academic research with practical business applications, delivering innovative solutions in digital transformation, sustainability, and international management. As an academic leader in Germany, he directed the EU-Erasmus+ Internet of Energy (IoE) – Education/Qualification (E/Q) Project, designing training programs for sustainable energy management, digital collaboration, and SME X.0 competencies. He also designed, developed, and published the SME Ranking Model (DSRM) based on the German Guter Mittelstand method and has independently led it for SME development.
Prof. Mattiello has supervised numerous post-doctoral researchers, PhD candidates, and master’s theses, while serving as Editor-in-Chief and Section Editor for leading international journals such as Frontiers and MDPI in Switzerland. He has also authored and edited numerous articles, books, and book chapters. He actively mentors emerging scholars and regularly delivers keynote addresses at prominent global conferences. He currently serves as Faculty Mentor for the IISE Future Faculty Fellows (3F) Program (2025–2026) in the USA, guiding a highly qualified PhD fellow in developing their research portfolio, refining pedagogical strategies, and preparing for an academic career. He has contributed extensively to the IEEE Educational Society as a member, editor, reviewer, and author, delivering 30 speeches for 20 published papers at EDUCON conferences (2018–2024) across several international venues.
His research focuses on strategic planning, organizational and digital transformation, emerging business trends, ethical technology integration, gender-inclusive leadership, youth development, and preparing future leaders through comprehensive business and management education. He also supervises DBA students in areas such as international business management and sustainability, cultural responsibility, strategic planning, technology integration, AI ethics and regulation, emerging business challenges, ethical adoption of emerging technologies, gender-inclusive practices, empowering women leaders, and innovation, entrepreneurship, and growth strategies for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
