What motivated you to choose and MBA in Finance at SSBM?

As a public accountant, I spend my days auditing numbers and ensuring compliance. However, I often find myself wanting to understand the strategic decisions driving those numbers, rather than just verifying their accuracy. I want to build that side of my thinking. SSBM’s flexible, international format is a perfect fit for my current schedule, and the MBA in Finance will give me the advanced tools I need. Ultimately, I want to grow the business by offering deeper strategic guidance to clients, transforming my role from a traditional auditor into a true financial partner.

Which course or subject had the biggest impact on your thinking as a finance professional?

It is the Innovation and Change Management class. Audit work trains you to focus on accuracy and compliance, but this course pushed me to think about how organizations actually adapt and evolve. It gave me a better sense of the human and organizational side of financial decisions, not just the numbers.

How has the MBA transformed your career or professional opportunities?

As a public accountant in Indonesia, most of my technical grounding comes from the standards, which solid for compliance, but not built to explain the business logic behind a client’s decisions. The MBA filled that gap. It’s also opened doors beyond traditional audit work, particularly in advisory engagements where clients want more than a compliance opinion; they want to understand the “why.”

4. What advice would you give to incoming students to get the most out of the program?

Since it’s an online MBA, treat it with the same discipline as an in-person one, it’s easy to let it slide when you’re also managing work deadlines. Block out dedicated time each week rather than trying to squeeze it in around work.
