SSBM Geneva proudly highlights the success of one of our MBA in Sports Management Alumna, Gorata Kgathi whose academic journey and professional achievements exemplify the School’s commitment to practical, globally relevant education.

SSBM Geneva Success Story

After completing the MBA in Sports Management, Gorata reflects on a transformative academic experience that bridged her extensive practical involvement in sport with formal management expertise. Coming from a humanities academic background, she had long been active in sport through governance, coaching, mentorship, advocacy, and leadership initiatives. However, the absence of a formal sports-related degree presented a professional challenge.

Her decision to enroll in SSBM Geneva was strongly influenced by Switzerland’s global reputation for academic excellence and by SSBM’s international outlook, flexible learning model, and student-centered approach.

The MBA in Sports Management was a transformative experience. The well-structured modules provided strong theoretical foundations and practical insights aligned with the realities of the global sports industry. The flexible online learning format allowed me to balance my studies with professional commitments effectively.

The MBA in Sports Management program provided a comprehensive and industry-aligned curriculum through 10 well-structured modules. These modules combined strong theoretical foundations with practical insights tailored to the realities of the global sports sector.

Since graduating, Gorata’s career trajectory has expanded significantly. She has been appointed as a Regional Trainer for the TAFISA Girls Positive and Safe Coaching Pathway, where she contributes to the development of safe, inclusive, and empowering sporting environments for girls. Additionally, she now serves as a Board Member of the African Women in Sport Initiative, playing a strategic role in advancing women’s leadership and participation in sport across the African continent.

Her expertise has also been recognized on the international stage, with invitations to speak at global forums on women’s leadership in sport and the role of sport in addressing gender-based violence. These opportunities have fostered meaningful collaborations, expanded her professional network, and strengthened her capacity to drive positive social change through sport.

Becoming part of the SSBM alumni community has been incredibly valuable. Engaging with fellow alumni on a professional level, sharing best practices, and learning from diverse global perspectives has been both enriching and inspiring.

Gorata’s story reflects the SSBM’s mission to empower professionals with the knowledge, confidence, and global perspective needed to thrive and lead in an evolving international environment.
