NEWS > June MBA Session in International Sports Law: Exploring Fair Play

Embarking on a journey in the MBA in International Sports Law at the Swiss School of Business and Management (SSBM) Geneva is nothing short of exhilarating. The June session at our Geneva campus kicked off with a blend of practical training and insightful visits, laying a robust foundation for our future legal experts in the sports industry. Here’s a closer look at the highlights from the first couple of days, where students were immersed in the real-world applications of sports law and fair play.

Practical Training with Daniel Muñoz

The program commenced with an engaging practical training session led by the esteemed Daniel Muñoz Sirera, a leading expert in sports law. The focus was on the intricate process of transferring a football player, a critical area in international sports law.

Mr. Muñoz Sirera’s session was both comprehensive and interactive. Students were introduced to the legal frameworks governing player transfers, including FIFA regulations, contractual obligations, and the role of agents. The highlight of the day was a simulated transfer negotiation, where students were divided into teams representing clubs, players, and agents. This hands-on experience allowed them to navigate the complexities of transfer agreements, from drafting contracts to negotiating terms and resolving disputes.

The next few days were equally enriching, featuring visits to two pivotal institutions in the realm of sports law: the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and The International Testing Agency (ITA).

Visit to The International Testing Agency (ITA): For Fairness in Sport

At the ITA, students were briefed on:

  • Anti-Doping Regulations: Understanding the World Anti-Doping Code and its enforcement.
