DBA Programme in Project Management - Delivered in collaboration with the International Project Management Association (IPMA)

IPMA DBA in Project Management

The Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programme in Project Management, delivered in collaboration with the International Project Management Association (IPMA), is a research-only doctoral program designed for experienced professionals and executives seeking to advance knowledge and practice in project, program, and portfolio management.

Grounded in the IPMA Individual Competence Baseline (ICB4), the program emphasizes critical inquiry into the Perspective (strategic and governance), People (leadership and engagement), and Practice (technical and methodological) dimensions of project management.

Students will engage in independent research under the guidance of experienced faculty mentors, leading to peer-reviewed publications and a doctoral thesis, contributing to both scholarly discourse and the advancement of global professional practice as envisioned by IPMA.

Each DBA candidate is assigned a qualified doctoral supervisor with proven academic credentials and subject-matter expertise in the chosen research area. The supervisor provides continuous guidance throughout the research process, ensuring that the dissertation meets international academic standards and professional expectations. Supervision covers all stages of the doctoral journey, from research design and methodology through to the oral defense (DBA viva) of the completed thesis.

IPMA certification

Subject to the successful completion of the final examination, each DBA student is eligible to achieve the IPMA certification (Level A, B, C or D), which represents an internationally recognized validation of knowledge and competence in managing projects. This certification enhances the professional credibility of graduates and confirms alignment with globally accepted project management standards. For more information, see the program brochure.
