Despina Mavromati

Dr. Despina Mavromati is an attorney at the Swiss law firm BianchiSchwald and an arbitrator at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Despina has been appointed as arbitrator, counsel or expert witness in a wide variety of sports-related proceedings. She is a Member of the UEFA Appeals Body, and has previously served as a member of the Disciplinary Tribunal of World Athletics, the Gymnastics Ethics Foundationand the Doping Hearing Panel of the International Powerlifting Federation. She was formerly Chair of the Ethics and Disciplinary Commission of the International Weightlifting Federation and Managing Counsel at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Despina is the author of “The Code of the Court of Arbitration for Sport: Commentary, Cases and Materials” (with M. Reeb) and has published extensively on international sports law and arbitration. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) and an accredited Mediator (CEDR & Harvard).
