Ivan finished his bachelor’s, master’s and PhD study at University of Zagreb Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing in 2012, 2014, and 2021. He has 8 years experience from working as a senior researcher and energy consultant at the same Faculty. He finished his PhD study with Suma cum Laude (highest honors) and for his research achievements he was awarded best PhD student award in the field of power systems in 2020 and exceptional PhD thesis award in 2021. He worked on more than 15 EU and Croatia funded scientific and R&D projects and he published and presented more than 40 papers in top journals and conferences in his field. He is also active in technical community where he published and presented many papers and actively participated on more than 80 technical studies as a consultant (for energy utilities, energy investors, regulated energy institutions). His area of expertise are energy economics, electricity and balancing markets, energy sector investments, power grids planning and operation, energy storage, e-mobility, renewable energy sources, distributed resources etc. He is working on development of optimization algorithms (units scheduling, market participation, investment decision making etc.), uncertainty modeling (robust, stochastic models), artificial intelligence algorithms (LSTMs for price forecasting etc.), grid modeling (NEPLAN, PSS etc.).
