SSBM Geneva Professor Dario Silić, PhD, was among the invited speakers at the Organization, Technology and Management in Construction (OTMC) 2026 International Conference, which took place in Zadar, Croatia, from 30 September to 3 October 2026.
OTMC 2026 brought together specialists from different fields to exchange knowledge and discuss current developments in construction, technology and project management.
This year’s theme, “Shaping the Future of Construction: Digital, Sustainable and Resilient Project Organizations,” placed particular attention on the changing demands of the industry and the importance of adapting management practices to new technologies and sustainability objectives.
The programme included invited lectures, research presentations and discussions on subjects such as digital transformation, artificial intelligence, Building Information Modelling (BIM), smart infrastructure and sustainable construction.
The conference also encouraged cooperation between researchers, industry representatives and organisations involved in infrastructure development.
As part of the conference programme on 1 October, Professor Silić delivered an invited lecture entitled “Doubling the Istrian Y Motorway: Project Management Challenges in Delivering Complex Infrastructure.”
His presentation focused on the Istrian Y motorway in Croatia, using the project to discuss the management requirements of large infrastructure developments.
Coordinating stakeholders, managing resources and responding to operational challenges are important aspects of delivering projects of this scale. Professor Silić drew on his professional experience to address these considerations and share examples from practice.
The lecture offered participants an opportunity to examine project management through the experience of a major transport infrastructure development.
Professor Silić’s second contribution focused on the financial and strategic aspects of infrastructure investment.
He presented research titled “Evaluating Strategic Infrastructure Investment Through Concession Model: Project X as a Catalyst for Regional Connectivity and Sustainable Development,” co-authored with Mario Silić and Ivana Silić.
The presentation was included in the Research Track on 1 October, specifically in the session dedicated to Project, Programme and Portfolio Management.
The research examined infrastructure investment through the concession model, with particular attention to its relationship with regional connectivity and sustainable development.
These considerations are relevant not only to construction projects but also to businesses and organisations making long-term investment decisions.
Participation in international conferences provides opportunities for faculty members to exchange ideas, contribute research, and share professional experience with specialists from different industries.
Professor Silić’s contributions to OTMC 2026 brought together practical project management experience and academic research, addressing both the delivery of infrastructure projects and the strategic decisions behind their development.
SSBM Geneva is pleased to see its faculty actively participating in international academic and professional events, contributing their knowledge to discussions on management, investment and organisational development.
