SSBM Geneva invites you to a transformative academic journey. In collaboration with the Bern University of Applied Sciences (HAFL), this elite joint immersion program merges business management acumen with agri-food sector expertise to shape the future of global food systems. This one-week immersion program has been carefully designed to combine academic rigor with practical experience. Participants will explore the dynamics of food markets, consumer trends, sustainability challenges, and regulatory frameworks through lectures, group work, and excursions to leading Swiss institutions.

The immersion week brings together students, professionals, and experts to examine the pressing issues shaping the future of food systems. Throughout the five days, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of how global and local factors influence production, consumption, and trade in food markets. The program emphasizes sustainability as a strategic business imperative and equips learners with the tools needed to lead responsibly in the food and agribusiness sectors.

  • Food from Farm to Fork — An Overview – Global consumption, production, trade & value-chain trends
  • Market Regulation – Public & private regulation at local, national & international levels
  • Sustainability in the Food Supply Chain – Defining sustainability, trends & developments
Day 2
  • Markets & Sustainability (HAFL) – Group analyses of Dairy, Meat, Wheat, Potatoes, Vegetables, Fruits, Fish, Vegetable oils
  • Sustainable Farm Management – Best practices in agriculture
  • Sustainable Consumption & Processing – Insights into consumer and processing dynamics
Day 3
  • Excursion Day – Visit to a Swiss innovation hub in food technology & sustainable farming
Day 4
  • Challenges & the Role of Policies and Politics – Group work and plenary discussion
  • The Challenges Ahead – Strategies and open questions across markets
  • The Role of Policy & Politics – Swiss and EU frameworks (Agrarpolitik 2030, Farm-to-Fork Strategy)
Day 5
  • The Way Ahead – Group strategies to improve sustainability across the food value chain
  • Panel Discussion – Experts from industry, policy, and consumer organizations

What is Included?

The tuition fee covers participation in all academic sessions, workshops, and group activities throughout the five-day immersion program. It also includes course materials, access to online resources, visits to partner institutions and companies, and the certificate of completion jointly issued by SSBM Geneva and Bern University of Applied Sciences – HAFL. Coffee breaks and some networking lunches are also provided as part of the program.

What is not Included?

The program fee does not cover travel expenses to and from Switzerland, accommodation during the week, or dinners. Personal expenses, health insurance, and any optional leisure activities outside of the official program are also the responsibility of the participant.
