SSBM Geneva Professor Dario Silić, PhD, participated in the BLUE ECONOMY KVARNER conference, held on 9 October 2026 at Hilton Rijeka Costabella in Rijeka, Croatia.
The conference brought together representatives from government institutions and the business community to discuss transport infrastructure, connectivity, and economic development.
As part of the event, Professor Silić joined the panel discussion titled “Rijeka Transport Corridor – Can Croatia Become Europe’s Distribution Hub?” The discussion explored the strategic importance of transport connections and the potential of the Rijeka corridor within European logistics networks.
Alongside his academic role, Professor Dario Silić serves as General Director of Bina Istra, bringing practical experience in infrastructure management and business leadership to discussions on economic development and regional connectivity.
During the panel discussion, he emphasised the strategic importance of infrastructure investment, efficient transport connections, and public-private partnerships in strengthening Croatia’s competitiveness and positioning the Rijeka corridor as a key European logistics gateway.
He also highlighted that connectivity extends beyond physical infrastructure. It plays an important role in supporting economic growth, encouraging regional development, and creating long-term opportunities for businesses and communities.
His contribution underlined the relationship between strategic infrastructure investment and sustainable economic development, demonstrating how effective transport networks can support regional competitiveness and strengthen connections across European markets.
