In a compelling testament to the transformative power of education, Prathibha Prabhakaran, IT professional with over a decade of industry experience, shares her inspiring journey at the Swiss School of Business and Management (SSBM Geneva). As an alumna of SSBM’s Executive MBA program, Prathibha reflects on how the tailored curriculum not only met but exceeded her expectations, adding knowledge to her extensive background in IT.
Could you elaborate on some of the standout professors or courses that had a significant impact on your learning experience?
I have to mention the dedicated and knowledgeable professors. They ensured that complex topics were taught in a practical, easy-to-understand manner with ample examples and exercises. The guest lecturers and their support through weekend live classes was also amazing. We were assigned Teaching Assistants who clarified any queries that we may have regarding our projects. A huge shout-out to all of them!
How did the Executive MBA program accommodate your professional commitments and the demands in the IT industry?
The courses and the curriculum were diverse and in-tune with today’s technological trends. Initially the basics were taught in Phase 1 [Accounting, Marketing, Finance, Sales, OB & HR, Supply Chain]. Phase 2 had an interesting mix of courses like AI for managers, Data Analytics & Decision Making, Innovation & Change Management and Strategy Management.
Can you provide examples of how the knowledge and skills you gained from the program were directly applicable to your work in the IT industry?
As someone who has been in the IT industry for 10+ years, I felt the relevance of this curriculum and the Executive MBA program. I am grateful that I was able to pursue and complete this degree along with working full-time. After completing my Executive MBA, I was able to transition to a new role with confidence. I am sure there will be many more benefits that I will gain through this degree, once I get the right opportunities to use my skill set!
Thank you very much Prathibha for your interview and sharing your experience!
