Prof. Dario Silic recently had the pleasure of meeting Croatian NBA star Ivica Zubac, who currently plays center for the Indiana Pacers.
Zubac has built an impressive career at the highest level of professional basketball. After beginning his NBA journey with the Los Angeles Lakers, he went on to establish himself as a key player for the Los Angeles Clippers, before the latest chapter of his career with Indiana.
During their meeting, Prof. Silic and Ivica discussed the connection between professional sport, education, leadership, and life beyond an athlete’s playing career.
Prof. Silic also introduced Zubac to SSBM Geneva and its educational opportunities for professional athletes and individuals looking to build careers in the global sports industry.
A particular focus was placed on SSBM Geneva’s Sports Management programs, which combine business and management education with the realities of the sports industry. SSBM Geneva offers educational pathways in Sports Management at both Bachelor and MBA level, with flexible learning formats particularly relevant for athletes and sports professionals managing demanding schedules.
The Sports Management curriculum connects areas such as strategic management, financial management, sports marketing, event and facility management, public relations, sports law, leadership and entrepreneurship.
At SSBM Geneva, we believe that the discipline, resilience and commitment required to succeed in elite sport can also become a powerful foundation for success in business, management and entrepreneurship.
It was a pleasure exchanging ideas with one of Croatia’s most successful basketball players and discussing how education can support athletes in preparing for opportunities both during and after their professional sporting careers.
